Hi all,

Does anyone have any own made blends of aromatic tobaccos they have enjoyed and are happy sharing?

I am wanting to get into making my own aromatic blends and am interested in trying others recipes to see what works well together and what is possible.

I have a few ideas of flavours I want to create but I’m interested to see what others have done.

A generous but judicious pinch of unflavored black Cavendish or cigar leaf will give many aromatic blends a nice spin, not every time, just when you are in that mood.

So far the best I've made is the following, which I call Chocolate Cake because I pressed it in a noodle press:

5 parts Stokkebye 702 Burley
2 parts Sutliff Red Virginia Ribbon
1 part Lane Burley Without Bite
2 parts C&D Dark Chocolate
1 part McClelland Vanilla Black Cavendish

A good way to experiment is to find a couple of straight bulk burleys and virginias that you like on their own, mix them 50/50 and then add varying amounts of heavy aromatics to it.

Hi all,

Since Nanny State Australia has made it illegal to import tobacco without a license, I've started growing my own for when my stash runs dry. [No way am I paying over $110 for 50g's of baccy]

I've been doing a lot of research regarding casings and toppings so I'll know how to make my own aromatics, yet there's so little info to be found.

Since tobacco needs to be aged at least a year before smoking, or attempting to make an aro, I'm still a long way off before I start experimenting.

I've bought several food grade flavourings that include vanilla, butternut, anise and a bottle of dark rum.

If you intend to create your own aromatics by adding a topping, start with very small amounts so that you don't waste any baccy.

My first attempt will be rum and vanilla that I will press using a noodle maker [Cost less than $5]

Good luck and let us know how your experiments turn out.

Sounds like a nice mix. I sadly may struggle to get some of those here in the U.K. so will have to be an import job

Thanks for the info and advice. I’m planning on tinkering with some readily available aromatics and making a blend from them. Got an xmas pudding idea that I plan on cellaring ready for this Xmas to see how the flavours have mingled

A link on another thread here has saved me from making a big mistake [And worse, offering poor advise :eek: ]

According to the link; don't use essential oils.
Instead of using anise oil for e.g., it suggests to use anise seeds or licorice root.

Some may consider this heresy but here goes:

My own (by total accident) unique blend combining aromatic pipe tobaccos that I really liked I call (in a totally uninspired fashion) Molto Ennerdale. It’s a 50/50 mix of Sutliff Molto Dolce + Gawith Hoggarth Ennerdale. Let it sit in a Mason jar for a couple weeks before enjoying flavor overload!

May have to check that out! What does the flavour profile consist of for this blend?

Ennerdale's almond/rum/vanilla/floral + Molto Dolce's caramel/vanilla/honey = a sweet gooey Lakeland-essence gemisch!

I'll often just mix whatever I have open at the time. Next up - Samuel Gawith's St. James Flake with Sutliff's Creme Brulee (basically bulk Molto Dolce). I'm going to call it St. James Brulee...
