(( my BAD ""luck"",--because it was meant as a Birthday ( 74) Gift--to Myself, and I ASKED the Vendor to QC the pipe--Before shipp. out : one of the Main joys of our Hobby--is Honest, Trusted, begone -age Customer-SERVICE ( and Not trying to fix the OBVIOUS Defect , having spend, by now, Close to $ 200 ( the Pipe // Fedex// Customs .....); even if i ship the pipe back to Italy ( from Toronto),--it will cost me additional expenses, + at least a MONTH of awaiting, + possible ""issues"" with Shipping, Vendor's Promptness , 'Honoring his promise to Fix, ; in any event, this UNfortunate Buy--has already left me with Sour fillings.....
Is there a B&M in Toronto you could take it to? Ask them to take a look at it.
I bet if you bought a tin of tobacco from them, they'd be happy to check it out for free.

IF (??) Antonio does not sent me a Replacement, as he promised--I might sent my DEFECTIVE ( even according to the BRIGHAM Store ( Toronto) Manager.)..- to JACK REID for possible repairs. But I am still awaiting the New pipe Antonio has promised Instead . IF I do get it, then, instead of repairs,---I shall sent the Defective pipe all the way back to Italy : for Antonio and Vilma--to have a look........
I don't want to beat a deceased equine here, but I was wondering if the non-removable stem was described on the site or at the shop where you bought the pipe. That is unusual enough that it should have been pointed out as part of the deal.
Like a first rate shop should mention a twin bore stem or presence or lack of space for a filter, so people know what they're buying. That's a small but important part of the job of selling pipes.
Since you can't handle a pipe online, and even if you do handle a pipe in the shop, you can't put it in your mouth, and you wouldn't notice this if you could.

Latest update : I have got in touch--with JACK REID// Pipes Repairs ( Ontario, Canada)--who was Recommended to me--by " BRIGHAM" ( Toronto ) , I send my ARMELLINI to him, and today--received his message :......''.......was able to easily complete repairs ; the pipe--is repaired ; the problem centered around the original Drilling of the bamboo :it was NOT a clean drill and didn't come anywhere near lining up with the air hole in the briar part of the bowl.............' : Can $ 30--for repairs, + shipping (( also, now, I shall be able--to Remove the Bamboo section from the briar part for cleaning.......: HONEST, GOOD Man ! I send JACK REID the Cheque,--and now awaiting my REPAIRED ARMELLINI w. Bamboo.....
Its late since you already figured it out but I would just drill it with bigger size drill bit all the way through...2min easy fix...bamboo sometimes does not align with a hole in a briar...
Hello !: this is--what Jack Reid ( Pipes Repairs )--wrote to me, yesterday "............I found it was just as easy to complete the repairs as i went. so, your pipe- is repaired. the problem centered around the original drilling of the bamboo. it was not a clean drill and didn't come anywhere near lining up with the air hole in the briar part of the bowl, etc etc---describing repairs done....'' i send Cheque--as Payment for the work done, hopefully--'shall get the repaired pipe back to me in ~~~ 2--3 weeks...... & shall update... latest updates : today---I have received my " Armellini"--- from repairs, made by Jack Reid ( Ontario , Canada ): he drilled an air hole back from the bowl end, and installed a standart type of tenon on that end of bamboo. now for cleaning I can remove the bamboo section from the briar bowl...: excellently done repairs , thank you, Jack Reid !
Just curious did you try a falcon pipe cleaner before all of this happened? I have some old meers that are too tight for regular pipe cleaners and use falcons on them since they are much thiner.
