I wore hats during my college years - usually a wide-brimmed fedora, a wool flat cap, and for a brief period, a straw pith that I picked up in San Diego. Got out of the habit after graduation, but I'm coming back around. I've acquired a gambler-style Western hat (think Maverick or Paladin), a Victorian top hat, a standard pith helmet, and a few ball caps - plus a hiking sun hat with a neck flap that I wear while doing yard work. I just ordered a brown Derby from Village Hat Shop (they're on sale...), and I'm planning to acquire a wider-brim Panama hat before our next cruise vacation.
And come to think of it, my local B&M also stocks men's hats (mostly fedora/Panama style). So yeah, I'd guess that a lot of other pipe guys are also hat guys.

Well, yeah, I'm a hat guy. I got tons of baseball caps, my Hemingway fishing hat, a straw Cowboy hat from Beale Street in Memphis, a Jack Daniel's hat and others.
Uh, there is a sound reason: A growing spot on top back portion of my pate that is slowly fading to flesh.

My head is just too darned big for hats. I think I look silly. Now, I might look silly (to many) with a pipe in my mouth but as far as that is concerned, who cares!

I'm 25 and the hair is already starting to wear thin... so as a result I am starting to get into hats. Just bought a trucker style baseball cap from the worlds foremost outfitter.

Wear hats all summer to keep the sun off and winter mostly when I have to. Generally wear a straw fedora in summer. Just picked up a pure wool Hanna touring cap from an Irish store in Victoria. Thinking it will look look dashing with my pre-republic Pete straight pot... the wife is less convinced :crying:

Spring - a Cabelas rain hat

Summer - on the tractor, a big straw stetson

Fall - a tweed cap or a baseball hat

Winter - my Russian fur hat with earflaps or the Cabelas rain hat
In my family the men either go thinnning early, or keep a full head of dark hair until they're in their 80's , then it starts to grey (I got lucky on the draw).
Loved the Filson hat!!! Maybe Santa will be good to me this year!

In public I tend to wear a lot of those old time vintage small baseball caps. Not those wide brimmed monstrosities that pass for baseball caps today. I pull the brim low so I'm shielded from the crowd. A pair of thick framed Raybans and I'm set to go.

I got this smoker's hat from SmokyJoesClothing.com, one of our PM.com sponsors.

I just don't know how I ever got along without it. They're fantastic! Blows everyone away!

Now I look and feel like Frederick Kerr playing the old Baron from Frankenstein!

I have a zillion hats. I've collected hats my whole life. Mostly ball caps of varying sports. I have really taken to buying minor league hats from the old days that are made from wool felt by http://www.ebbets.com/ I don't like the newer modern caps as the bill and crown are way to big. Those vintage caps from the fifties and sixties are just right in look and feel. I have some flat caps and a Beaver Brand cowboy cut and blocked to a wide brimmed fedora. I also have a WWII Marine Corps cover and a WWII jeep cap. I will never be even close to being the president of the cue ball club but I am a hat lover.

Cajun, that pipe of yours should be registered as a deadly weapon! I think I saw it used by Thor in the movies. As for hats, I favor a felt olive hat with a wide brim, rather like an Indy Jones hat, that I use to keep my forelocks out of my face along with the rain.
