I have no complaints about mine. The stems do take some getting used to, though.

I have one and I might have smoked it three times. Maybe I should give it another try. I was not impressed though and personally regret the purchase.
I think the gimmick falls short. If you actually like the pipe, fine. But dont think youre being frugal. That money will or will nearly buy you a decent Peterson. Some of my best pipes are small, unbranded meerschaums that cost 40 to 60 dollars at a relatively pricey store. All of these options are objectively more beautiful pipes than any falcon. If money is not a concern however, then this isnt an issue
A big part of the experience of a pipe is the weight, shape, and stem. With Falcons, its always the same so I think you will be met with disappointment the first time you screw a new bowl on and find its the same pipe. So if you think you would like to have the one Falcon and the one bowl you have your eye on, then go for it. Just manage your expectations. If youve got a tight budget I would say dont risk it just yet, buy a solid pipe or even several cobs

man I feel like these comments are a perfect 50/50 split…. Maybe I’ll get a cobbit and put the spare change towards a forever stem
I bought two about 5 years ago from the Danish Pipe Shop, along with two meer bowls. I bought them mostly for nostalgia. My neighbor smoked one back in the 1960’s.
While they do smoke reasonably well, I find that mating the bowl to the stem is quite problematic. The bowls tend to come loose rather easily, and getting them aligned and securely threaded on is PITA.
I’ve considered buying a bowl from Don Warren, but just haven’t gotten around to it yet.

Cobbit already has an acrylic stem so a forever stem wouldn’t be necessary.

I like mine, it's like a Swiss Army Knife when you need one. Don't care about looks, it smokes well, briar, meer-lined or golf ball meer bowl, depending on the blend.
Love them, they were my exclusive driving around pipes for years. They're not miracle pipes, but they are tough little work horses.
Falcons are great, some people complain that the briar bowls are a rough break-in but I didn't find that with mine. Durable, cheap, and smoke brilliantly down to ash

I wasn't too sure about them 4 years ago when I got my first one. If anything, I was regretting my purchase. But now, I easily reach for one of my Falcons as much as I do any of my other pipes. Regardless if they're a "real" pipe or not. Haha
I personally don't use the dry rings but I've read how other people make their own by just cutting up pipe cleaners. Either way, I think they're a good choice. Personally I would probably buy one over a cob nowadays anyway. I just looked at cobs recently and holy crap have they shot up in price.

For anyone who is worried about the stems (they are fine but nothing special - not hard acrylic, but a soft-ish plastic), you could look out for a vintage stem with either vulcanite or the older soft plastic they used to use. The older stems were a bit better, with a nicer bit.

Falcon have a line that takes a 6mm filter. I was looking at one a while back but never pulled the trigger. Mr Brog make a version that's fitted for 9mm filters. No idea what either of them are like.

The classes, the licensing, and then you have to feed them and care for them. I love the idea of falconry but not the reality.
