I stopped Prime; it became more about Netflix style competition than next day delivery and as I have no TV, lost interest. Plus, most of the things I was buying were 3rd party and someday delivery.

Well the ad states....

Dispatches from Amazon
Sold by Amazon

....I'm just baffled.

Jay.
Unfortunately that doesn't mean that Amazon actually has the item in stock. They're purchasing it from a partner source, and a lot of those sources are pretty dodgy. Why not see if there are alternatives? I do as much to not buy from Amazon as possible.

The great majority if times Amazon ship with blinding speed. Unfortunately, some of their outlets do not and give no information as to availability. When you get one of those "it'll be there by doomsday" notices just cancel the order through Amazon. It takes a little while to get you money back, but you will get it. The check the meticulously
and be sure it doesn't say it's going to be a while receiving the item. If there is nothing there then post a terrible review for the item stating why you gave it such a poor review.

With respect Jesse, you likely have more options available to you in the US.

I use Amazon simply for convenience as I can't leave the house. Normally they're pretty good though a couple of months ago I bought a reel of hi-fi speaker cable.....it took 5 weeks to get here! I tried to cancel 3 weeks in but was told I couldn't as it had been dispatched!

BTW I'm closing my Prime account.

Jay.

Happens occasionally when they don't have the item. I usually search for other sellers. Been using Discog a lot lately for out of print CDs. Shipping is really slow since most are coming from overseas.

Well on the 20th June I ordered an AC Infinity Aircom T10 for cooling my hi-fi gear and I don't get it until 3rd July.

I don't have a problem with that as I knew right off it would be shipping from the US as they're not stocked over here but to be told AFTER I paid for the CD to expect it many months ahead is just a joke.

No fun, and it ticks me off as well when the info isn't there when the order is placed, but when that happens and you don't want to take a chance on the wait, just cancel. It's a pretty item specific thing. I've run into the same with CDs that are coming from across the pond to the U.S., but rarely. Just time for a rethink about how much I really want something and easy to cancel. Used books not via Prime can be a crapshoot over here and I've learned my lesson on that (okay, it took two bad dealers).

If your happy with second-hand, 'reconditioned' CDs, you can do worse than Music Magpie. I used to buy a lot of CDs from them via ebay, and more recently directly from their website.

Only ever had one that didn't play well, and they immediately refunded me and sent me a second copy.

Many, many albums are only £2 or £3 each, and they ship with Royal Mail and arrive fairly promptly.
