Since April the Oneth is upon us; I thought that I would remind everyone to be sure to celebrate by driving everyone and your offspring crazy, especially teenagers. It is so gratifying to demonstrate just how gullible they can be and are.
It is my understanding that Pope Gregory the Great moved New Years Day from April 1st to January 1st. Back then those that thereafter continued to celebrate New Year's Day on April 1st were called April Fools. So it is in their honor that my custom is to wish everyone a Happy New Year on April 1st, just to see the look on their faces.
Happy New Year! :nana:
Just for fun, how about posting your best April Fools prank or tradition.

Happy new year lol!
Couple years ago working retail at my old job, went down an aisle, slammed a ladder to the ground, layed down next to it with my eyes closed. When coworkers came to see what happened I was there laying on the ground with the ladder on the floor. Heard someone say "oh sh@t!, as soon as they got closer I just yelled. They didn't talk to me for the rest of the day.

Never done anything close to clever I'm afraid -- never fallen for a prank either, people just over-reach on the day because everyone is so apt to disbelieve anything that would be remotely funny if you believed and it were untrue. My younger brother once tried to convince me our parents died, the youngest brother fell for it, took me all damned day to calm him down on for him to get riled up again when they finally came home. But I just let them deal with it at that point, including the middle one's deserved punishment, which he surprisingly didn't get.

Jeremiah, I wish I could be at your work place today because I could use a good laugh. I also wish we had Cannon equipment.

My youngest daughter woke me this morning with....
A very loud, very exuberant "Happy New Year Daddy!" :D

I'll get her tonight when she asks what's for dinner... Liver and onions....

One of my favourite pranks is the classic saran wrap over the toilet bowl. I've always wanted to try the creative "door full of popcorn"

I gave some of the other managers in the office, a note saying that a "Mr. Bear" called to talk with them... The number I gave them was the number to the local zoo... No one got it :( they all came back and said I wrote down the wrong number.

"Jeremiah, that copier thing you done not working."
So I go over and find two other women there, staring expectantly at the copy machine.
"It's already screwed up?" I ask.
"Yeah. It don't work."
"Show me what you're doing."
"We put it in the top and...PRINT!" she yells.
The copier, predictably, sits there quietly.
"Well saying 'print' won't work. You'd have to be at your desk and using a microphone in order for the print command to function. You want to tell it to copy."
"Okay," she leans forward and looks hard at the digital panel, "COPY!"
Nothing.
"Hmm..." I say, wondering how long I can drag this out, "maybe it won't work with the top loader. Try it on the glass."
She opens the top and places the original on the copier, aligned with the bottom of the glass. She leans closer.
"COPY!"
We wait for a few seconds...nothing. I'm just about to let the cat out of the bag when...
"You probably have to align it at the top of the glass, so the copier knows what size paper to use." the girl next to us says helpfully.
At which point I think even the copier was chuckling.
"Good idea. Reset it and give it another shot."
She does so.
"COPY!"
I then throw my hands in the air in triumph, spin on my heels, and stroll back to my office. When I'm about 6 or 7 steps away they figure out what's just happened. (Or someone told them.)
"You wrong. You know you wrong..."
Win!

I did something that went a little better... I photocopied a paper clip, made 30 copies, and put the copies back in the paper tray! Later I walk back into the copy room and there is a lady with the copier in pieces because she couldn't find the paper clip stuck in the copier! I :laughat: at her...
