A tin of Night Train is $11.90. If you average 3 grams a smoke, that's $0.71 a smoke. That's still great value.
Not that long ago, it was like $32/LB. I believe it was $67/LB the last time I looked. *I hope I'm remembering taht correctly. $11.90 might seem like a steal when people are paying $15+ for tins, but if you started out paying $5 just a handful of years ago, it would seem steep.

There are multiple ways to look at things. I still feel that $0.71 per smoke is a bargain. What else costs less than a dollar per hour these days?

I have not tried a lot of their crumble cakes but the Tuskegee Airman crumble cake is great. It's interesting smells like dirty socks in the tin and smokes wonderfully and sublimely. I don't know if this is normal but sometimes I just put a nugget not rubbed out in my pipe and it smokes better then you'd think it would.
I have to admit that the company in terms of what I smoke is probably what I smoke the most of. I think the worst blend of theirs I have tried was still pretty good and got finished.
That wasn't on my radar, I'll check it out.

I've done the same with their crumble cakes, but I do prefer to rub them out.

”A handful of years”? Maybe C&D blends have been priced unusually low until recently, but it’s been something like 25-30 years since I paid less than $8/tin for anything.

Agreed (OP).
I recently purchased Haunted Bookshop, as I too enjoy C&D burley blends. I opted for the cake version because, as stated, their cakes are very easy to handle and enjoy.

I buy it in the 1LB bulk blocks (not tins). My point is that it has doubled or so in my short time of buying it.

I enjoy Redburn and Blockade Runner, but I do wish the cut wasn’t quite so fine. It’s almost a shag. It takes a bit more finesse to avoid burning too fast and hot. That’s just my personal preference, so YMMV. Both have a very nice rich flavor.
