Screw all the big charitys . The only one who gets my extra money is the March of Dimes or the Shriners . I often wonder where people get the time to go on crusades for this and that . As for me the vulnerables of this great nation are depending on me to keep them fed .

Most of the 'info' given out on the web regarding anti 'animal rights' charities
Read petas own guidelines if you'd like to see how crazy and dangerous they are. If you own a pet dog or a pet cat you are petas enemy. If you ever eat meat, you are petas enemy. If you wear leather shoes or belts, you are petas enemy. They sponsor groups to commit terrorist acts and they maintain an air of respectability by spending millions of (donated) dollars on glamorous ad campaigns.

The only reason normal people are suckered into supporting peta and HSUS is because they dont know what kind of agenda drives these people.

I'm not assuming any of this, I've seen firsthand what both of these groups do to people they have a target on.

I remember Penn & Teller's "Bullshit" did an episode on PETA. In addition to the stuff previous posters commented on, they discovered that the VP of PETA's HQ in Virginia is a diabetic and requires insulin injections, which were developed through testing on animals.
Penn & Teller sent her a letter asking how she can reconcile her use of a drug ( developed with animal testing) that saved her life, while trying to deny that to others through her support of firebombers who target animal testing labs.
She responded by saying something along the lines of "...it doesn't make me a hypocrite because I need my life to help protect innocent animals."
Only the mind of a warped, elitist, radical, loon could come up with a response like that and keep a straight face.
As for my personal position on PETA, I'm a life long elk hunter, need I say more?

I live near Washington DC and as such I've had a few run in's with PETA on a stream fly fishing. During the last one, they were protesting near Big Hunting Creek, a catch & release fishery in the Catoctin Mountains near Camp David, and as such fished by a few US Presidents over the year. Three folks with signs approached me as I was rigging up my rod and putting on waders. They gave me their spiel and I politely listened, than told them I wasn't interested. They followed me down to the stream and were yelling "go home", etc. I asked them to stand back as I started casting, but they inched closer. I guess they didn't understand for every foot of cast forwards, it's also going backwards. I had on a rather large wooly bugger with some lead shot. You aren't really casting that but "chuking" and sure enough I caught one protester right in the noogin with the lead shot. Most fly fisherman have hit themselves over the years (why we wear hats & eye protection..) so I know that hurt like a SOB. He rubbed his head and I shrugged my shoulders, they left. Ill-informed youth seem to the majority the ones I've encountered.

I'm on the Board of Directors of a dog shelter in the Cleveland, Ohio area, and I'm THRILLED at the support you all have shown toward local adoptions. You don't need me to tell you this, but THANK YOU.
As far as P.E.T.A is concerned, they have their agenda and (speaking for local shelters) we have ours. Our motto is Respect the Dog. Beyond that we don't have the time, the funds nor the manpower for B.S.
