I'm all for jokes, including offensive ones.
But if there's a rule against politics on the forum then don't be surprised if it's enforced.
As @gubbyduffer says, some of this is particularly divisive stuff. UK and Irish members may well have had family involved on either side, killed, wounded or involved in some other way. I think sometimes some Americans can be liable to forget that it was real innocent people who died in those campaigns.
Personally, I feel if you want to joke about it (or anything), knock yourself out. But don't be surprised if a moderator enforces the rules.
