Quite correct......and thats where it ends in the U.K..............anything else is from one of a handful of tobacconists
that are left......or a lucky find.

This is (was) Ogdens Gold Block.....nowt to do with Wessex.....now Mac B Gold Block

It was mild with not much body....very fine shag cut.

A lot of people mixed it with St Bruno (if I remember) 50/50 to create Ogdens Mixture.....which is worth a try!

Just used up my last vintage pouch of Gold Block, mixed up with St. Bruno for a jar of Ogdens Mixture. Never liked Gold Block on it's own, few pipesmokers here in England ever did! Tastes & smokes great with St. Bruno though.

Iwan Ries has tins for $19.50. I have a tin that was on sale a while back for around $10 or so haven't tried it yet but still have that single tin in the cellar. Didn't know this Gold Block was so hard to come by as it seemed like many online retailers had it for sale.

I used to mix it with 2 parts Mellow Virginia (in the 90's). Great aroma and taste

Exactly. My first visual reaction was some dude chilling in bed shirtless mid-day, off work, with a chick reaching for his junk. That doesn't disuage me from buying said product....it's better than my actual day going on.

With an elaborate nitrous oxide rig. This man has got it made in the shade. He doesn't need to worry about smoking good tobacco.

@condorlover1 I've had some Special Virginia (as it's called now) in my clay pipes.
Given my disdain for "Big Tobacco" I'll have to give up Condor and Special Virginia (Japan Tobacco is the only one of the Big Four still making pipe tobacco)...
One of the Sealed Knot reenactors was smoking Special Virginia in his clay pipe.
