"We've even talked about buying tins of all those again and mixing them up in hopes of getting the same result."
Jerwynn you make a good point there. It really is imperative to make notes of your home mixes just so as you can replicate them if they turn out to be winners.
One thing I forgot to mention was all my home mixes live in used round tins as they seal far better than square/oblong tins. Also, I have noticed a slight improvement in taste the longer the component parts are allowed to sit together though this should come as no surprise.
At some point in the near future I intend on putting one of my mixes into my press for a few weeks to see if that improves things even more.
Regards,
Jay.

70% Carter Hall, 20% Orlik Golden Sliced, 10% blending Latakia.
Or, alternatively, 80% Carter Hall and 20% of your favorite Lat bomb. (The current batch I'm smoking is CH/10 to Midnight.)

Yeah Cosmic, I mixed up a bowls worth of Darkstar and Tilbury..that's nice.

I'd get notes similar to Sillems Councilor on some puffs..I like that stuff.

Commenting mostly to save this thread where I can find it again!

50/50 Hal O' the Wynd & Stirling Flake

50/50 ODF & Irish Flake

Blending Perique at will with any VaPer or Virginia that doesn't seem full enough for me

Occasionally 15 or 20% black cavendish when I have a sweet tooth with a variety of things

...and hopefully I won't go to hell for this, but I mixed Union Square with Exotic Orange 60/40 and liked it

I'm a Black Cavendish lover, and I'm pretty much convinced that just about any tobacco can be improved with the addition of Lane's BCA or Captain Black's Dark (the exception to that rule might be Wessex Original). I am pretty sure that Lane BCA and Captain Black Dark are the same. I'm sure that Lane's 1Q and Captain Black white pouch are identical.
I like to mix equal measures of BCA with either Prince Albert or Carter Hall. The BCA/Carter Hall is probably the best combination of those two.

50/50 Black House/Blue mountain worked for me.

I just mixed GH Black Twist with Uhle's 00, gonna see how that turns out.

I mixed ABF with some Stonehaven, I liked them separately better. If you want a cheaper alternative to ABF, try Uhle's 00.

I find it surprising that nobody blends Rustica for pipes, I actually enjoyed it when smoked straight.

Where d you source your leaf? I bought some on ebay but they cost me more than tinned tobacco.

70/30 PS Cube Cut and BLWB makes a pretty close match to Edgeworth Ready Rubbed. Sometimes I increase the BLWB to 50/50 if I want it a little sweeter.

I don't usually do this too often but today I rubbed out a bunch of GH&Co Bright CR Flake (don 't like it very much, too bland for my palate) and added some straight up Izmer leaf along with a bunch of Perique. I usually wait 5 to 10 days before I taste my new creations. I also tried a 50/50 mix of Autumn Evening and Sweet Maple Twist but I stole that idea from Cosmic. That is also very bueno!
I had a tin full of scrap tobaccos that I probably would have never gotten around to smoking so I decided to bake the jar in the oven for 5 hours at 190 degrees and that came out splendid. The scraps mainly consisted of FVF, Strang and LGF. Good stuff!

I probably rambled on about this before, but a personal favorite is "Marzipan Burley," a 60-40 mix of Cotton Boll Twist (finely chopped) and Hal O' The Wynd.

Almost any Virginia Perigue mixed with almost any straight Virginia blend, 50/50. It seems that the more flavorless the Virginia, the better the combo. A good example would be my first mix, Modern Virginia and Bayou Morning, I love Bayou Morning straight, but it's too strong a smoke for me. Cutting it with a plain Virginia gives me just the right flavor and nic hit. Right now I am smoking some Esoterica Tilbury mixed with RO SV-73. It's awesome.
