Sunny Cornwall, UK.
Last week I purchased a copy of John Speed's 'Historie of Great Britaine' of 1632 (3rd edition). It's a huge book of over 1,200 pages (and weighs a ton) and has heaps of superb engravings. My favourite engravings were of a savage man and savage woman and I thought they could well give inspiration to those who are into full body tattoos.....or not as the case may be.

Check these out...

Here are what is described as 'civilised Britaines'.....though I'd be a bit wary if my missus carried a sword & a pike!

And one more.....just because I like it...

Hope you enjoyed....

Jay.

Inspiring indeed.

Those savages were the Picts of NE Scotland.
A bad arse group of people that scared the bejesus out of the invading Romans and caused them to build a wall separating the conquered south from the wild north.

...For me, the more tattoos, the better. My way of honoring my Scottish ancestors.

Love the illustrations, but the very top one has a perhaps unintentionally problematic bit of overlapping that gives a new, additional, and perhaps unfortunate definition of "giving head".

Back when I considered a tattoo, they were singular badges, emblems, not sketch books running up and down the limbs. I have friends who have extensive, if not full body, tattoos, so I reserve judgement. But living with the same artwork for a lifetime? Not for me. I'd even switch around a DiVinci print on my wall from time to time. Tattoos solve an emotional longing I don't have.

I noticed that too, but I was apprehensive about saying anything. I didn't want to seem culturally stupid or anything. I mean, what happens in Great Britain can stay in Great Britain. puffy

Working on it. And the mysteries of the Picts are interesting. Yes that's what they called those people. And they're not sure if those where tattoos or elaborate paintings. Either way when compared to what other people where putting on their bodies at the time (when Rome was Rome and not just a city). Seriously super interesting people and sadly not much known about them.

oh and the original question. Working on it. And I have to admit not one I regret not even that first stupid one I got. It's pretty awesome but stupid. One of two I designed myself.
I sorta guessed that about you. If, and I mean a big IF... I ever got a tattoo, I would want a life-sized image of myself, all over myself, except maybe thinner with more hair. puffy

Not quite the same thing but I've been thinking of getting a figural meer made for me. Of who? Me. I think that would be freaking hilarious.
And as far as your if goes. I think you got it backwards. Unless you are looking for a strong acting prophylactic. If you'd prefer the opposite effect except fatter, less hair (and not in a male pattern baldness way but a oh is he radioactive way) splotches. Use the guppy effect. (which is middle of the road guppies will hang out with ugly guppies and it increases their chance of getting to mate). Yeah basically if you get a really ugly version of you it will make the real you look better. Trust me in my past life people told me I was a player (before the girlfriend).

I have a couple of small tats on my upper arm near my shoulder. That's enough for me. I have seen some really nice sleeves that look awesome, but I wouldn't do it.

About a week ago I saw a really cute girl, mid-twenties with a flower tattoo on her chest just above her cleavage...it was hideous. Poor girl has to live with that decision.
