Aye @eigthywon I love the idea of more creative use of the Bullet Smoker. Once it rehydrates I'd be very curious on how it changed the profile.

Ye will need to let us know...

Did you have a water pan in the smoker?
I would think that might keep it from dehydrating too badly.
The other thought was to try a lower temp ... say 180ish?
I have the same smoker, pretty much, so just thinking out loud here ... :)

Interesting, I'd say you need to try to cold smoke the tobacco like you would do to smoke cheese. Tempature of 80 or 90 degrees, just hot enough to make smoke.

I grilled up a filet mignon last night. Before I grilled it, I replaced the bacon on the edge of the filet with strips of Stonehaven. This was delicious. The family went ape for it. I just told them that the Stonehaven flake around the filet was a strip of exotic Iberian bacon.

I always sautee my Granger in Danish butter and truffles before packing it. It's delicious,

but it takes so long to get the butter residue out of a pipe.

Well the rehydration worked and there is now a hickory tin note. After 3 bowls I can say there is also an essence of hickory. Not too powerful or overbearing, just a hint, which is nice. It gets more pronounced throughout the bowl. Very subtly however. Perhaps like cheese, it will take on more smokiness with more time.

Cortez- I think I somehow managed to make 2010, if not a good tobacco... Better.

Cobguy, derfatdutchman- I had a pan full of water. I also was thinking the heat was too high, but I am a very inexperienced smoker i.e. am I smoking too hot? Am I smoking too fast? How much smoke should there be? How long should a typical bowl...err... Never mind. Lol.

Overall I'd say I'm happy with my results and would probably attempt this again.

Hawke- I'll try to get your sample out today, and anyone else who might want to try it. I'll probably toss some in the Box Pass when it gets to me too. It'll be labeled Backyard BBQ.

Woodsroad- couldn't watch the vids on my phone, which is what I use to do most of my foruming. I'll have to try and remember to watch those when I get on my laptop.

Pyratemate- I'd rate it Arr!

Adding a smoked in component to nondescript tobacco may help make it more palatable.

I am wondering what other experiments in DIY tobacco enhancements have been successful?

I have a bag of OHM sitting here untouched since I've taken up the pipe and I'm hanging on to it in hopes of making it something better.

Dan I've been wondering about casings ever since you posted that link to the latakia flavoring. I can't think of any other use for a latakia flavoring than curing tobacco with it. Anybody?
