This is another reason to smoke Lakeland blends, everyone can taste them on first puff.
Also, among aromatics I've found that Anise flavoring comes through the smoke better than most.

The toughest thing for me when I came back after a couple years was packing my pipe. I had lost the feel of how to pack a pipe and kept putting too much or too little. It came back to me after I kept at it.

Pack looser and make sure your tobacco is not too wet.
This is really the key for me. Dry it out and don't try to stuff the bowl, just plop a little haystack in there. Last night I dried some baccy out around 42% RH for several hours before smoking and it was perfect. Easy little sips made big clouds. Dryer and looser is the way to go.
