Beautiful pipe! Are Castello as good as people say? So far, almost all Italian pipes I've tried have been a disappointment for some reason...Slowly working through my rotation of Bulldogs
This one just qualifies - a 1/8 bent squat Castello

That's what happens to me too with Italian pipes, for some reason.. they are all good but I never pick them... That's why I am looking for a le dune in the hopes that the visuals draw me in enough to pick it up. I guess we will seeI have only 2 Castellos. They are well made pipes and both smoke well.
But I don’t reach for them as often as others.
I prefer my Britwoods, Danish and French pipes.
No rational reason that I can think of.

Serious stuff.Nice collection, my favorite shape. Here are a few of my favs.

Perfect example with the first photo AlSome excellent examples of both shapes in this thread. The Rhodesian and bulldog are my two favorite shapes and easily take up the bulk of my current collection. I always say the Rhodesian shape reminds of something, but i can't quite put my finger on it.

Here's my group, with a few straight Rhodesians in there. (primarily British)

I like that black one with the goldish rim.I just can't help myself, when it comes to this shape. Here is what I have gathered in my personal collection so far. The ones without stems I am restoring right now.

A fair question, and I would say first and foremost a smaller chamber, because my sessions are usually short and it keeps my tobacco consumption a bit lower. But also, I like the light weight and clenchability of smaller pipes. Of course, I'm not even a year into pipes, so I still have a lot to experience and learn about!Me too , but so you mean the chamber or the pipe itself?
I haven’t gotten around restoring it yet…There's that dang Aigner Bulldog again....
Sigh.. and we are soul mates on so much else...Ewww no.
They are my least favorite shapes.
But, that first Stanwell posted by @OzPiper looks great. Bulldogs and Rhodies are usually too small and uncomfortable to hold.
That Stanny looks like its neither of those.
I'm here if you ever decide to let it go!I haven’t gotten around restoring it yet…
