Going back to classes tomorrow. Have 12 hours at school...with many breaks for the pip. Anyone else about to go back and flaunt the greatest form of tobacco consumption? Or are already back, and laughing at us Oregon schools for waiting so damnably long?

I am starting my fourth week tomorrow, and I only go on campus for class, plus my campus is no smoking... Good luck with your classes.

Life is my school, as I learn something new every day. And I can smoke where ever I wish! :)

I am starting my fifth week of class now. Working on a MBA. Class one night a week from 6:00 to 9:45 for 8 weeks. Then another class for the 2nd session. Eventually I will finish the degree.

I have been in school for about 6 weeks now, we are coming up to mid terms. Oregon must really start late. Thankfully my campus is not smoke free so I can stroll to my next class while puffing a pipe.

I've been in classes for a while now. Maybe I should move to Oregon and start later.
Though I have been planning on moving out west anyways....

We start late...and we end a little late. Oregon has one of the shortest school years in the United States. Probably because we allocate all of our school monies to administrators instead of teachers and matériel. It is pretty stupid. But also kinda nice, for a lazy bastard like myself.

I decided to stop at a MBA...

I had an employment person ask me why I haven't gone back to school...

Then I asked her how many positions she had on file that required a Doctorate of Business Administration."

Then I asked her; "Since I'm already overqualified for everything out there, why would I want to increase that handicap?"

The whole time I was in school, all I wanted to do was to be out...it just never agreed with me as the vast majority of subjects have no relevance or worth to modern living. They just don't teach subjects that you really need in life, and the fulfillment of courses just to meet requirements is mindless, thus taking more money and time that could be utilized better out in the real world.

I agree with you, for the most part. Sadly, most people don't see the world that way, and thus the college degree is needed so that they will even look at you.
I started on the 21st. There are tons of cigarette smokers (Almost one in three people, if not more), but I'm the only pipe smoker so far. I saw eight or so people at a table with two portable hookahs. Several staff members complimented the pipe, along with a few gals (But don't tell the girlfriend!)

The only thing I liked about going back to school (college) was being a long haired tatted-up 28-year old rock musician with a hot bike, disposable income and the ability to pull 18-year old tail like there was no tomorrow. High School classes are designed to enable the perpetually dumb and lazy to pass so a guy who had already been out there and taken the knocks could look like a damn genius in College, since most of the noobs had spent the last 12 years being fed bullshit High-School pabulum and now faced the wrath of profs who gave a fuck less if you failed their class or not. It was quite the turnaround from my days in high school where I was usually looked at like a sick dog that no one wanted to touch, but no one had the balls to put out of its misery.
Other than that it was crap. Expensive, useless crap.

Expensive for sure, I'll be paying for years to come...one has to weigh the cost amoratized over your work career on how much the education deducts from your paycheck.
a quote from this article:

The massive increase in college tuition needs to be explored. If you think about someone going to school to pursue a career in say social work, a noble career, is it really worth it to go into $100,000 to $150,000 in debt for a career that pays $30,000 to $40,000 a year?

Yep. My WHOLE Family wanted me to become a teacher. My whole family either are or were teachers or professors of something at some time. My college profs all told me "you're a natural instructor". Why would I go asshole-deep in debt for a job that starts off paying about as much as one makes mopping floors? Unless you just love to teach, there ain't no sense and I don't love it that much.

You gotta really like dead people to do what I do, cause there ain't much money there either, but I got $0 student loan debt to show for that little trip back to screwel. (No chasing girls that time around, though. I was already married).
