Just picked up a Jeantet Maya in an estate lot and can't find much about it on the net. Few pictures of the Maya line (bumblebee stem), but barely anything else besides they existed and have since gone by the wayside. Hell, I can barely find anyone selling them either. Not the reason I bought the lot, but it made it more interesting. I've seen a post before on PM about them, but it didn't go far.

The Jeantet is the middle pipe. Pipeguy, I've already been through the conventional sites. I'm looking for firsthand knowledge (ownership) or someone who may have been up on them when they were independent or owned by Comoy.

I have a Jeantets Churchwarden that I like a lot. I know that the pipes are manufactured in St Claude France (same area as Chacom, Genod, Butz Chaquin and Beo), but don't know much else about them. Personally, I really like french pipes, as they tend to be the right size for me (small), and have good renditions of classic shapes.

I probably wouldn't have thought twice about that pipe otherwise, but the stem and relative obscurity intrigued me.
Either of you have one from the Maya series?
I went for the Peterson. The tag along Jeantet and Doc Grabow were just enough to round out the final price.

I've heard good things about Jeantet, like y'know you'll sometimes read a question to a high-grade collector asking if those pricey pipes really smoke better than anything else, and a few will say "they smoke about the same as my Stanwells" --- well, I've read of a couple of the European high-end collectors say "well, they smoke about the same as my Jeantets"...
But Chacom closed the Jeantet plant when they bought 'em out in 1989 and now I think Jeantet is regarded as a Chacom 2nd,

here's a Chacom Maya,

I kinda dig that stem, at least the way it looks in pix, pretty damn neat I'd say!
This is the cartoon bumblebee that the Maya design is based on :P

And just looking around for a minute, trying to find info in French, led me to see this amazing white blasted Jeantet that I think is cool as all get out, wonder if that's paint or what? I think it looks cool!

Sadly, I know next to nothing about French pipes.

Did you see this page on Jeantet history: http://www.pipephil.eu/logos/en/infos/jeantetusine-en.html
1988
The company was taken over by S.A. Cuty Fort Entreprises(1) while keeping its label. It established in the group beside Chapuis-Comoy (Chacom), Jean Lacroix and Emile Vuillard.
Today (2010) the brand isn't part of the group any more. The label owned by Dominique Jeantet still exists but pipe production is discontinued.

Mr. lowercase and jarit,
Yeah, I saw the highest returns on Google and dug until the hits became mostly about related keywords and none about Jeantet. So I did see the history on pipephil.eu, my go-to site when investigating unknown or lesser known pipes.
I did also look briefly at the bee influence. That is a hell of an old cartoon. Which leads me to ask, why isn't there a "high profile" Popeye reproduction? Too much of a "costume pipe"?
But thanks for looking with me.

The Sailor pipe would be cool to own, but for about $82 USD, I can't spring for that. Now, if I was still in the Navy, it'd be a must own simply for adding to a personal shipboard collection with a MacArthur. Guys on the ship would want to take pictures with those pipes all the time.
