http://www.4noggins.com/John-Pattons-Quadruple-Virginia.aspx I would try this, I've only had the version with perique, cool hand fluke which is a very strong mixture, but there's a very grassy hay like quality to the Va's used. The perique is what makes the blend so strong so I think without it the blend would be what you're describing.

Sampled Lanes 125th Anniversary blend at the pipe show recently and I think it's a good one, and at a nice price. I'd order it.

Hey everyone (again) I just got in my order from smokingpipes and ended up with newminster superior navy flake, C&D Virginia flake, and they threw in a free sample of Lane 125th. I had a chance to smoke the superior navy flake which also happened to be the first time I've ever meddled with flake before. The aroma from the SNF was amazing I was having trouble stopping myself from just taking a bite off the tobacco itself. It smoked like a dream too! The other tobaccos had similar aromas as the navy flake so I can't wait to give those all a try. Thanks again for the suggestions, I still have others on my list to try! Happy smoking!

Another one that has those notes in spades is Erick Stokkebye (sp) 4th Generation "1855"
The tin aroma reminds me of walking into an old barn filled with fresh alfalfa hay, a scent from childhood.

For down the road exploration: Medium VA Flake (in the tin it's called Golden Glow), Butera's Golden Cake, and to lesser extent Union Square and Capstan Blue. Just fyi most of the folks above smoke so much lat they can't tell grass from a cat's ass.
