We should collaborate on this!
Yeah, we have very similar tastes. And even though I don't smoke it that often, I'm also a fan of Royal Yacht. Been stocking up, actually, in case it does end up going away.

I have been enjoying cigar leaf from this site in a pipe.

At first I just ripped it into big pieces and stuffed it in the bowl. It was hard to keep lit all the way down. Being raw leaf it doesn't have chemicals to help the burn. I would parfait about 1/3 bowl of a regular blend on top and that helped a lot. I want to try that with various codger blends.
Then I tried pressing a block in a vise and cutting that. Burnt better.
Lately I've made small diameter twists and diced fairly finely. I get kind of a cube cut which burns reasonably well. It's still better to parfait a little of a regular blend on top.
I used to smoke cigars and like a pretty strong tobacco taste mind you. A blend of Cubano, Nicaraguan, and Columbian (1,1,1) is pretty good and similar to sticking a store bought cigar into the pipe.
What's the best codger blend for a simple "tobacco" taste?

D&R Sigaro might work?
The Don Giovanni tobaccos are rich, fuller-bodied blends which use leaf from the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, Ecuador, Brazil and Indonesia for robust flavor and cigar-like character. Don Giovanni Sigaro is a robust blend of leaf from Indonesia, Ecuador, Brazil and Nicaragua; earthy, sweet and a little spicy.

Excellent choice! I have been stocking up as well. My backup is Brown Twist Sliced, which has many of the same characteristics and a slight but unfortunate overtone of geranium oil.

You might want to give Samuel Gawith Brown No. 4 a try. It comes off cigar-like to me. Maybe not so much in taste as it is just full on in your face tobacco.
