Any tips on breaking it in? I’ve already smoked it a half dozen times or so, so it may be too late to do it right If I didn’t.

Just to help you out as a new member. Make some use of the search function at upper right. Many subjects have been covered extensively and contain much useful info. I'm pretty new here too and sometimes our enthusiasms can exhaust the veterans,

This is contrary to some pipe smoking myths, but I don’t break pipes in. I just smoke them.

I know some will discuss using burley blends and partial filled bowls.

Not me, I encourage you to just smoke and enjoy them.

Do not overthink it.

I used a jewelers cloth to shine up the band and it worked like a charm. Still getting used to the P-lip. Are there fish tales available for this pipe?

I have a number of Petersons, only one a P-lip, and have had no problems. Only one took time to fully blossom, and then it happened over about three bowls. I like their sturdy shapes and stout bowls. Maybe the B11 brandy sitter is a favorite -- I own two -- but the Around the World series pipe for Ireland is excellent, the Rhodesian 999 Killarney, and the Donegal Calabash are all fine pipes, as are my others.

That likely has some value I would imagine? I’d love to know what something like that’s worth. Btw, where’s the hallmark? Do all Pete’s have one?
The Hallmark is on the silver band. Not all Peterson’s have silver bands. Most have chrome bands with Faux hallmarks.

A ton of info on Peterson’s is available at pipedia.com and pipephil.eu

Happy reading.

Mine has the silver band. As I researched them, after buying like a knucklehead I realized many are nickel. I was very pleased to see that. Makes me feel special while smoking it. :)

Main is thing to smoke it easy when you’re beginning with a brand new pipe... just like you would drive a brand new car 130 miles per hour until it’s broken in.
