Any Particular Paint to Restore Stem Markings?

I have a few estate pipes and there is a Biltmore in particular that has had its stem dots buffed out over the years. The divots in the stem still appear largely intact. The paint is all gone. Is there any particular paint type or application method preferred? I’m guessing I’m dabbing something on with a toothpick. Thanks.

I am not an expert, but I use this. It is a paint pen. You really have to shake it up well but it dries quite quickly. I usually get a little outside of the lines, so I use a very high grit (12,000) sanding pad to remove anything extra.

Add to the above - liquid paper (tm) and Rub And Buff (tm)

Acrylic nail polish. Add a dab to the imprint. Let dry, scrap the remaining with a toothpick.
Conversley a white Crayon can be used in the same way.

This is the trick that @ssjones uses, and if it's good enough for him, it's good enough for us.

Buff first, then rub it on. Wipe away the excess with a clean rag, allow to fully cure before any further buffing. Its enamel paint so its got to set up and cure before you can do anything to it otherwise it just wipes away.

I use gun sight paint pens. Same process as described above with the other paint pens and nail polish. I just have that on hand.
