Although I sold a couple recently, I had a bunch of the Hunter Series.

I will not part with my '98 and '99s. The 99 is called The Quail. I thought the '98 was called The Beaver -- but on the website linked above it's called The Weaver. Yet the insert that's included with each pipe still calls it out as a beaver. Go figure.

I've got a blasted beaver. Only pipe with bamboo I own. While I like the looks of it, smoke it seldom as the bowl is too small for me.

And, I don't think I've ever smoked a Danish pipe that was a good smoker. Just goes to show how we all have slightly different tastes. puffy
I have around 10 Danish pipes-none high grade-and only a few aren't particularly good smokers. Every factory-made pipe probably has some pop up which aren't, though probably close to 100% of my preferred maker's pipes I own are.:)

I have a zebra hunting pipe (gift from my wife), a Signature freehand, and an econo-pipe Eriksen. They're all A+. Nording is a stickler for engineering on his pipes. Nothing sloppy or half done. And he does some of the best factory freehand pipes in the business, the real Danish deal.

I don't know how they make these beautiful pipes at this price pint. When I get one I us Renaissance Wax on the briar and the wood looks even more vibrant. I don't think you can purchase a finer pipe at this price point. Well executed in every respect.

The Quail is my one of my favorites of the Nording Hunter series, maybe because I love to hunt upland birds over dogs. I also love the bamboo stem on The Beaver. Both are very nice. Thx for posting.

I do like my Neerup pipes as well.

I am a Nording fan. I did buy two a while ago from a second hand retailer marked “unsmoked,” that had some issues. On one, the shellac bubbled up on the side of the bowl from the heat. Some Nordings often have a shiny lacquer/shellac finish, not wax that is buffed.

With the other pipe, a dark reddish dye stain came off on the pipe cleaner the first 4-5 times I ran it through the pipe stem, as if it had never dried.

Again, I bought those two from a second dealer, not from a Nording approved retailer and now.guess that they were “seconds.”

When it comes to good looks, Danish pipes are hard to beat. I've visited Larson in Copenhagen and dropped in on Anne Julie. Actually, the best looking pipe I ever owned was an Anne Julie with grain all the way around that was so perfect it looked like it had been drawn with a ruler. puffy
My pipe with the most densely packed and circumferential grain is a big old Danish Ben Wade freehand. Think many of the freehands from that era had great grain.

2 of my 5 Nordings have the lacquered finish which I've had for years. The finish has remained good and in their case the lacquered finish is attractive.
