Not quite true. There are false morels to watch out for. They are not edible.There are no poisonous mushrooms that look like a morel. If you are mistaking a smooth looking or other colored mushroom for a morel you’re blind.
A morel looks like a troll’s stinger fruiting from the dirt. ?
Around here in MN there are some that are very close in appearance. They usually are not hollow like true morels.
