Haven't noticed it until after I got the Covid-19 booster shot. It's been 3 weeks and I still have very little sense of taste when it comes to pipe tobacco. I hope it passes soon because I'll be getting into my holiday aromatics in about 2 weeks.

You won't "see" it- you'd smell it or not and you'd taste it or not!

OK, I am bored silly, and had to make a stupid comment. OH, now in edit mode, red underling indicates there's an extra "in" in a word above.

And, back to topic, I've not noticed any due to smoking a pipe. Colds, yes. Medicines, yes.
