I would participate.

I'm sure this would be in the "rules", but if it is simply for taking a sample of something (rather than the whole container), and they are all in Mylar for less weight, and plastic bags aren't desired... then only those who can re-seal Mylar should be participating? I'm probably missing something other than a couple marbles... But I don't have that Mylar capacity at the moment and it ran through my noggin.

It will be tins and bulk, we will not be using anything that requires machinery to participate.

Well, let’s get this crash em up started then.
I'm game, IF some acceptable threshold requirement can be agreed upon, so much time on the forum and so many posts. People who have a good level of involvement tend to be better bet to play well in the sand box. Let it be a perk of being a contributor.

Otherwise, good luck!

When I started out years ago I participated in box passes. It was a great way to learn about blends and what I liked to smoke.

It would be nice for the new guys to participate, if it could be monitored. Maybe showing their drivers license by pm with the address the box would go to?

Yeah, minimum threshold and all, it's a good idea and I'll be in but let me put it to you a different way:

I've vouched for others in things like Secret Santa and never ran out on my own obligations. I've even put my name in to send to ones who got stiffed. However, I would probably not let me into a box pass if I were in the place of the organizer. Why? I disappear for extended periods of time due to work obligations. I have a horrible track record of responding to PMs (ask @Ahi Ka for my ****ty turnaround time ). I sometimes post really dumb things when I get riled up about a trivial post and could get a long vacation at any time for it...(box pass paused for weeks or months). You get the picture.

On the other hand, I've been posting a bit in the last few months, have a lot of posts and history here, will fulfill my obligations and will contribute some great tobaccos, pipes and other fun stuff to the box. Which of the two captainsousie's do you believe will show up to the box pass? The sad part is that any one of use could have a similar background going into this.

Is it time to roll the dice? I'm up for it if y'all are but sometimes you get what you pay for.

The Mylar bags that were used last time were Mylar with zip top. Very robust. No machines needed.

I personally would advocate against tins.

But I’m not and never will be in charge.
