There are very few things in life that someone else can’t screw up for you if they are determined enough to do it. If that fact stops you from doing something, then you are going to miss out on a lot of things. Additionally, anything that starts eventually stops, and anything that is born dies. That’s just nature. If you want to do one, go for it.

And for those that will undoubtedly comment on how it is easy to talk like that when you have nothing to lose, I will help seed the box but not take part in the pass. Will give tin of first year of C&D Red Virginia Flake, tin of first year of C&D The Beast, and some 21 year old Edgeworth Sliced.

The box pass that I ran was a lot of fun, and a lot of work. I enjoyed the work because I knew that the participants were all having a good time with it. Until they weren't. If I was Kevin @admin, I wouldn't allow another one. It always ends poorly, and (if you couldn't tell already) that resentment lasts forever. Not unlike a bad marriage.
Yeah, I figured it out several posts ago. Not only does no one want to participate, they would rather be stabbed in the face with a soldering iron. And the general consensus by those that have been here for than a few years is that they rather that box passes were just outright banned by Admin to keep anyone from even mentioning it again.

Much appreciated, but only one person has shown any interest in it and several villagers have taken up pitchforks. I think this was DOA.

I didn't get that vibe from the thread. I bet that you would get a lot of interest. And, we don't know how Kevin is going to feel about it till someone asks.
My stern post about sticking to a set of guidelines was just to protect the Boxpass if it was started.

I will still add some tobacco to it, if Kevin gives it's blessing, and someone gets it started. I will even add some of the tobaccos that I've grown and blended myself.

For me the Boxpass was a great way to taste some aged tobaccos to see which ones I should stock up on. There is a value to this. I just don't want to receive the Boxpass at this stage in my smoking, because I probably have more varieties now in my cellar than will be in a Boxpass, plus... this sort of thing has more value to others that are just getting started cellaring.

And, yeh, it will probably end in disaster. But, like plunging off the top of a hill on your sled with no steering.... the ride is fun, till it isn't, ha ha.

Much appreciated Cosmic, but honestly only one person has PMed me showing any interest in participating in the actual pass. More than a few have offered to seed the box, which I did not expect. I was planning on filling it myself, so that was a pleasant surprise. But if nobody wants to participate 🤷‍♂️ . I'll Pm Kevin an see what he says, but I think its a moot point.

Oh yeh, and if Kevin gives it his blessing, and you take on the daunting task of moderating it, talk to Woods about the type of bags he used. Those were great at keeping the box light weight, and the tobacco fresh. The boxpasses that I got were very heavy and full of tins and sandwich baggies full of bone dry tobaccos. Too much.
When I helped a tiny bit with the box I put 100 3x5 Mylar bags so Ziplocks, tin foil and wooden pirates treasure chest wouldn’t be used.

Don't members regularly just give boxes of stuff to each other already? I know I send out several a year and have received a few myself.

What am I missing? Is a "box pass" something different than that?
A box pass is a sampler basket. You take some of a blend to try. Then you add back and move the box along.

If your a worthless pile of irresponsible shit, your seller just grew and you save yourself postage.
