One of the benefits of openly smoking your pipe in public is that friends and neighbors start to think of you as "the pipe guy"and will occasionally pass on pipes that they come across. I have been the recipient of many free pipes this way.
A couple of days ago I was out for a morning stroll, and of course, the pipe was stuck in my jaw. A lady up the street was enjoying some coffee on her front porch and yelled to me "hey I noticed you smoke a pipe, I have a few that were in the house when we bought it. Do you want them? "
Of course, I said yes.
This nice lady, gifted me with two pipes.
The first one I'm going to show had a stamp on the side, but I could not read it. It has some beautiful grain, and a copper band and appears to never have been smoked. I will clean it up, but a lot of restoration isn't necessary.
the second pipe is a Diamond Shank Apple and is marked E. Wilke with NYC under the name. It is in much rougher shape and will require some restoration. But I have a feeling it will end up being a beautiful pipe when I am finished with it. I stumbled across this post from reborn pipes about this exact style and brand of pipe

If any of you can offer any insight into either of these pipes, it would be appreciated. Of course I've done the research but I thought maybe some of you had some first hand knowledge.
