On a trip to the USA in 1986, Fritz Becker attended the Chicago Pipe Show and toured the US stopping at selected retailers of his magnificent pipes. With him was this set of unfinished pipes that showed his process from briar cabochon with his design markings, to first carving, and finally pre-finished pipes both smooth and rusticated, in a custom presentation box. This set from Fritz himself should probably be in a museum... if there was a pipe museum. My questions to your veteran collectors; are there other sets like this out there... from Becker or other iconic pipe makers?
