Title edited. Please follow Rule 9.

I’ve really enjoyed snus the last two years I’ve used it but have found that it’s pulled me away from pipe smoking which is my true love. Any advice on how to quit?

Is this the second time you’ve brought this question to the table? I remember a similar post some months back. A wife or girlfriend not liking it either?

Not sure what you’re looking for….but taper yourself off. Just like we were weened from our Mother’s sugary milk.

Maybe just do it at waking and at bedtime.
Yes this is the second time. Wife doesn’t mind anymore, we came to an understanding. I think before I was trying to gauge whether or not I should listen to her 😂. Now I’m trying to quit of my own will.

Wow wish I would have thought of that 🫨
You are welcome. You clearly have an addictive personality and an issue with nicotine. If I recall you have even openly contemplated breaking your family over your use.

So stop. If you have any left, discard it. Don’t buy any more. Remove it from your life. Don’t bother fiddling with tricks and gymnastics. Just do it, pay the mental consequences for a while, and be done.

Am I to understand that as meaning, his wife threatened to end their marriage over his tobacco consumption?

If so, that is not a marriage/family; it is a temporary relationship of convenience that is guaranteed to fail.
Like I mentioned, we resolved this as I explained that it was much safer than smoking and we came to a compromise. Now I’m realizing that I enjoy the pipe more but have really become nicotine dependent.

I attempted to edit the second sentence of my comment before anyone had an opportunity to read it.
I should not have written that and I do apologize to you.

Have you considered employing a behavioral modification technique to make the experience less pleasurable?

Perhaps adding something that is safe for consumption but distasteful (Denatonium) or irritating (salt/pepper) to the snus would be enough to dissuade you from using it at all. Then, even if/when does not, it will be less of an enjoyable experience.

All good. Behavioral might help. I’ve quit once before for about a month when I made that post about a year ago and it was the hardest thing ever. I do like the idea of adding salt/pepper to it to make it foul tasting

I think people are giving you ideas here and then the past it’s really just up to you. Some people can quit things called turkey. Some piece can’t doesn’t matter what other people can do only what you can do.

The nicotine lozenges (mint pills) will help cut your cravings but I would recommend buying 1/2 the dose you normally smoke because if your going to quit and switch to the pipe then be serious about it. The manufacturers recommend switching to the lozenge and taking as much as you normally smoke for the first two to three weeks, if i recall correctly, then dropping down. That just prolongs the habit by three weeks in my experience. They helped me. 2 cents.

I was joking about the cigarettes but no one got it, perhaps it was in bad taste. Nicotine is extremely difficult to give up for some people and I’m definitely one of them. I’m still on my own journey… I used vaping to quit cigarettes and now I’m switching to the patch to help quit vaping. It’s a vicious circle, cold turkey is the way to go if you can pull it off, some can’t.

Smoked 3 packs of cigarettes a day for 20 yrs and quit cold turkey. Depends on the person and their willpower.

I quit cigarettes years ago cold turkey but I chose to take 3 to 5 days off of work. I probably would have lost my temper/job if I tried to quit while working. I wish you success and the strength to overcome! You can do it.
