"Antique" Taste in Pipe

White vinegar, with some patience and work, will get rid of the musty smell and not leave an aftertaste or aroma.

And if it does, it's like McClelland is back in business! I jest, I jest...

If you cook white vinegar will it rock up and you can smoke that?

Would mixing activated charcoal in with the salt do anything? Has anyone tried that?

I think salt and charcoal do the same thing. I think charcoal might work better just because it’s ground finer?

I have one pipe that had the same problem. Even after repeatedly giving it a thorough cleaning with alcohol/salt baths, scrubbing the shank and stem, etc., it still tasted musty every smoke. Finally decided to hit it with bowl after bowl of Pirate Kake. Not exactly an exorcism, but I replaced the ghost with one I like. It’s now a great Lat-bomb pipe.

Has anyone used baking soda? It works in the refrigerator and laundry.
