Folks,
Got these items at the local antique store, figured you'd like a little pipe porn.
The pipe is a sandblasted bulldog by Yello Bole, and I'm pretty sure it's from the 1930's from the markings on the shank, but if anyone has any other ideas I'd like to hear them. The stem is a natural wood color, I thought it was oxidized at first. It's got a yellow circle etched into it. The markings on the shank are:
12B

Imported Briar

Yello Bole

Honey cured briar

KBB 3 leaf clover stamp
The ashtray is made of particle board, I think, with a little cork lined compartment that I assume is for tobacco but I keep my tool and lighter in it. The back of it has a stamp: (c) 1946 Multi Products, Inc.

Great find! I didn't know they made Yelloboles so far back. When I started out, I had bought a couple at the drugstore, in the seventies. They were good pipes. That ashtray is sweet though.

Thanks. I was actually looking for vintage shaving supplies, but ended up with the pipe and tray instead. They had more pipes there but they were strange...a tiny unsmoked meerschaum of a horse, a god-awful yello bole pipe of what looked like white ceramic with black specks on it, and a strange pipe that had a clear amber colored shank and stem and a screw on bowl. The bowl looked like some kind of wood but I couldn't tell. I might go back and pick that one up, just for curiosity's sake.

Wow. Nice tray. I find all kinds of junky pipes, a few diamonds which a have posted here, but I can't ever find a cool tray.

Neat old pipe! The tray is either Syrocowood or Ornawood. Becoming pretty collectable now. I have a few pieces.
