I purchased a tin of Anthology 1992-2022. I have not tried it yet due to my hyper-salivation issue effecting my taste (see my other post).

I was gifted a sample of Carolina Red Flake in January (2 bowls) and I loved it. I reached out to C&D asking when the 2022 Red Flake would be available and C&D msged me and told me they will no longer make Red Flake but Antholgy will be using the same Virginia’s and Perique. Has anyone tried it yet? I am eager to try but must wait until I resolve my medical issue.

That's interesting news, and too bad about C&D Red Flake being discontinued. C&D flakes without perique have their own special charms.

When this blend was released it made me wonder if this would be their new flagship crop based release, ala McClellands Christmas cheer. I usually let C&D blends age for a bit before I smoke them but based on the reviews I may have to break that rule and give it a try.

I did not want to mislead anyone so decided to post the actual response. I removed his name in case it’s against the rules. But his initials are JR.

“Thank you very much for your email. Welcome to the hobby! I am very happy to hear that you have enjoyed our blends and in particular that you got to try the 2021 Carolina Red Flake with Perique. That blend was very special, and I am sorry to say that we won't be offering it this year, though we will make it again someday. However, all is not lost. There is a blend that we are releasing very soon, called Anthology: 1992-2022. This year C&D celebrates our 30th anniversary, and Anthology 1992-2022 is our celebration blend. It features 3 very special and limited selection of Virginian leaf including one of the components that we used in Carolina Red Flake with Perique 2021, as well as pure St.James Perique from the same small farm which produced the Perique we used in CRFwP.

More good news on that front, this same Perique is what we are using in all of our current production of every blend that contains Perique. We have been using this farm as our sole Perique supplier for about 8 months now. I am certain you will want to try Anthology: 1992-2022 and look forward to other Anthology blends in future years.”
