I'm not sure if Howard Shulte has passed or not. I met him at his shop in Vero beach a couple of times having driven 3 hours to my south to reach Vero. He had multiple machines for buffing and grinding and had 2 bays in a Strip Mall type Industrial building with storefronts and garage rears.
I don't think Howard made pipes. He was a 'certified Dunhill" repairman, so, I sent my $67 dollar Shell Briar to him.
A nice old fella, he made me a repair band for my RokRoot Brebbia while I chatted with him, in like 10 min. or less.
He had all kinds of parts from years in the business. Any precast stem you could want plus certified Dunhill rod.
He was mostly doing minor repairs and clean ups and people sent him their pipes from all over. He also did work for the local pipe shop, The Pipe Den.
Howard didn't smoke at all. He also had a stoma, for something like 25 yrs.
I got mine a yr and a half ago.
