Another Ryan Alden For My Collection

I was chatting with Ryan about some of my old Brit Wood he’s making stems for when he asked if I was interested in another of his.

He sent me the following pictures and I was just gobsmacked. It’s stunning. The dimensions are 5.30x1.60” and .75x1.26” Chamber. The weight is 48 grams

The accent wood is Spalted Pecan. The shape is Danish Bulldog.

Can’t wait until it arrives.

Very sweet piece and unlike anything I have seen before!

I too recently received a pipe which I commissioned from Ryan which I am delighted with. A silver banded strawberry wood prince. Unusually organized grain pattern on this bowl. Strawberry wood tends to be very wild. This one looks almost like old soft Algerian briar to me, like Dunhill originally used for their Shells.

The pecan works very well with this pipe, makes a unified whole.
Compliments the briar without being overbearing.

There might be an Alden commission someday when the budget allows.
