I looked at over 100 of his completed auctions, mostly yearbooks and photographs. Nothing else was pipe related, so it looks like it was an honest mistake.
The "Sell Similar" option will auto populate the title and category, so if you didn't know what "pipestud" was, it would seem like part of the item description.

If someone has to use someone else's name to sell their book -- if it's not just ignorance and lack of homework -- you know the book isn't worth crap. There are many good things this person -- whoever he is -- could have done to peddle his book if it's any good. I could list twenty without breaking a sweat, but if this is his approach, I think he'd better make a nice space for the copies in his garage.

Mark my words; I’m in NO way shape or form condoning what many of these ass-wipes are doing by using pipestud’s name to try and further enhance their listing. However, if you simply click on: SELL NOW, if you have the same item to sell, it will automatically come up with the same title (see image).
Then again, for those selling such items I would naturally assume that they are fully aware of exactly what the item is and would be more than cognizant of the fact that including the name/word ‘pipestud’ would not in any way shape or form fit in with the product description and would delete that word in the title. I’ve sold similar items on eBay (not tobacco related) by clicking on: SELL NOW as it saved some time with my listing. However, I was always more than aware to take due diligence in making doubly sure that my listening/title was absolutely correct in EVERY detail before listing it. A very shady and fuzzy area going on here, but more often than not I’ll opt for shady and fuzzy as I’ve seen way, way too much shit going on with some eBay sellers , albeit certainly not all. Bottom line… it is, and always will be up to the buyer to do his or her due diligent research before purchasing any item and if one fails to do so you have no one but yourself to blame.

If you chose the "sell similar", the eBay ad created is identical to the original, which is kind of weird.

Someone not used to selling tobacciana probably thinks (if they notice), "what the hell is a pipestud???".

Hey guys, just got another email through the eBay messaging system from the seller who accidentally kept my name in her auction title. I think maybe we ought to ease back on the pedal as I think she's riled -
Dear pipestud,
I am a mother of 2, I work at a hospital and I use Ebay to supplement my income. Apparently your paparazzi is not going to quit. I am told that I am on your forum? chatroom? whatever. This is absurd! and getting more ridiculous. I sell anything I can come across in lot boxes from auctions. I am clearly no pipe dealer and prior to this, no idea of your stardom. If you are familiar with this forum that people have posted on could you kindly tell them to stop messaging me on ebay.
Thanks,

Heather

Steve, are you really buying the fact she is a mother of 2? It is probably some 60 year old guy who is trying to make you feel sorry for him. Make her send you a photo id with her ss# if she wants us to quit. lol

I refrained from messaging he/she after witnessing the ferocious Harris msg. Lol. If he/she hadn't apologized I was ready to report and harangue.

I hate scammers as much as anyone but this definitely looks like an honest mistake. No need to lynch anyone.

Harris, I'm not about to do that. It might be Caitlin Jenner.

I too am part of the Pipestud paparazzi. I get top dollar for photos of Steve in a 2 piece by the pool. - Jordan
Aha! So you're the guy with the camera that keeps peeking between the bushes. I've been wondering who that was.

I love it when people make a mistake and instead of saying I'm sorry and fixing it, they instead get indignant. I guess that's a tip off to avoid this seller.
