What a bunch of scumbags, ebay better do something about these maggots.
Steve, let me know if you need me to do anything for you, I for one will write ebay or do what ever it takes to see these imposters dealt with.

Here is what I just wrote the maggot who is stealing Steve's handle.
"You are not pipestud and your stealiing his name is disgusting. How dare you take another mans handle just to you can sell a lousy book. Have you no honor? You are being reported to ebay and I hope they cancel your account and throw you off. You deserve it."

Be careful what you all wish for. Ebay might now realize there is a hell of a lot of tobacco sales going on and simply ban all of them!
The guy might honestly not know that "Pipestud" is someone's user name. I would not know if I was not on this forum.

Well, the asshat imposter was selling a book.
And Steve has been super transparent with his tobacco sales with ebay, so I am not too worried about that.

Yep, you guys are better than the Texas Rangers, LOL!
After Michael notified me of the auction, I sent a polite email to the seller explaining that while I was sure his auction title was not intended to be keyword spamming, he did have my user ID in the title and I'd appreciate it if he would remove it. He did, but what was really funny was his email to me afterwards which I cut-pasted below for your entertainment. I think Harris got under his skin -
Dear pipestud,
This was indeed an error. I came across a book with the leather cover and you were the only one to have something similar so I listed my item with the "Sell Similar" option. I did not take notice to your ebay handle being in the title. I apologize. However, I have received harassing messages from 2 of your buyers. People are very quick to judge and bring about dramatics. Very Bothersome! Sorry again for any inconveniences.

eBay knows that there's a lot of tobacco being sold on their site. The whole business is a transparent sham. But as long as you can show the tin to be a collectible, not available generally, this gives eBay the legal wiggle room it needs. And if eBay ever decides that this trade is truly unwanted it will find another site, such as Pipestud's.
As for the perp possibly being innocent of any knowledge of Pipestud and having merely pulled this soubriquet from the ether, that seems a bit of a stretch. Methinks it is simply a disreputable move by a vile scumbag to bring buyers who use pipestud, a very well know and honored eBay seller of long standing, as a search term.
EDIT: I've just read Steve's correspondence with the seller and withdraw my characterization of said seller in this instance. The fault is eBay's, apparently.

Steve, I think I did get under his skin as this was his response to me.
" Dear lordcuba,
Have you nothing better in your life to do than to assume and harass?! You are an idiot and for this I am sorry! It must be a terrible thing to live your life thinking the worst of people first! For your piece of mind... This was an error as when I listed "Sell one similar" from this person's listing I left the title as it was and did not realize the sellers name was in the listing. When selling on ebay if you have an item that is not common, this is the easiest route to go because the title and catagories are already set."
Here is what I responded to him.
"Dear bhbwhatnots513,
pipestud is a friend of mine and this is not the first time people have used his name to try and sell something pipe related. You say this is the first time you have used his name, fine I will believe you, but many people who are his friends have reported you to ebay. If this truly is your first time using it then you shouldn't have any problems, but if it is not you may be in some trouble. Ebay can go back and look to make sure. pipestud is one of the most known of all pipe sellers so when people try and use his name, people like myself will go out of their way to make sure his name is protected.
