We had another great day at Fenway yesterday. We were waiting in our seats, and I began talking to a very nice guy next to me. Although he had been a fan since he was 12, this happened to be his first RED SOX game ever, as he traveled 14,000 miles from Brazil to see it. He looked down and noticed my L.J. Peretti's bag in my hand, and asked if I smoked a pipe. Well we had a nice talk about pipes and tobacco, the told me that he bought a Nording over in Cambridge that he was very excited about. I gave him directions to Peretti's, and he should be going today.
If that wasn't good enough, my family was able to spontaneously meet David Ortiz through a friend of ours. I happened to be wearing an Ortiz jersey, and he was more than happy to sign it for me. Then, my youngest daughter was given a game ball during the 7th inning, and she gave it to the gent from Brazil because as she said, "he came so far"! The man in the "34" jersey in front of my daughter is the my new Brazilian friend. What a day!

Wow, great story, bull. And to boot, the Sox won against TB. It looks like both teams will be battling for post season honors. Go Red Sox.

Yes, Papi always seems to have time for his fans. One of our friend's 10 year old daughter is going through a pretty tough bout with cancer. She is in a hospital in Boston, and Papi came in the other day to spent some time with her. She made a confetti bomb, and totally covered Ortiz! I saw the video...he was awesome, playful, and compassionate! A true gentleman.

You must be so proud of your daughter giving the ball to the man from Brazil. I'm not a baseball fan in the slightest, but I really enjoyed this story. Well done!

Couldn't agree more, you raised that girl right for sure! I'm a Jays fan (can't believe I just admitted that!) but I've always heard amazing things about Ortiz's generosity and time for the fans. What a great day.

That is a great story. Papi has always been a class act and he is the greatest clutch hitter in Sox history. Glad to hear you had such a wonderful day.

I am extremely proud of my daughter, and even got a bit choked up when she gave the ball away. I explained a bit about Karma to her afterward, so she's waiting... Thanks for the kind words!

But..... I can't help noticing how tightly your wife is holding Papi!!!! HAHA. But I feel for ya... My wife has the biggest crush on Mike Lowell.... The way I looked at it at least it was all in the family!!!

I was hoping that they installed a pipe smoking section at Fenway but this was good too. Congrats to your daughter on her classy gesture. She sounds like a great kid. I'm a big Sox fan myself, for the record. I'm glad you guys had a great day.
