Another newbie post

Hi folks - I'm sure you get a lot of these, but thought I'd say hi as a longtime lurker who's finally got round to making an account.

I've been piping for 5 years now, but I think I've stagnated the last year or so and just sat passively with the same kinds of blends. I still smoke most days, but the days of PAD/TAD are long gone... I don't know anyone else who smokes a pipe, so I thought it'd be good to appear on here and, erm, just reignite my hobby a bit, really.

So with that, what's everyone smoking for NYE? I'm still meandering through 3 blends my OH got me from Venice in the autumn:

• MB Vintage Latakia
• Amphora Black Cavendish
• Cellini Classico (seems like this is quite a popular OTC blend in Italy?)

Probably no surprise the first one is my favourite as I'm partial to English/Balkan, but the Cavendish has been a pleasant surprise, and probably nicer for those around me

Welcome aboard and Happy New Year! This morning I had a pipe of Carter Hall, then some Peter Stokkebye PS-24 Nougat after lunch, and I'm going to ring in the new year with... well, I don't rightly know!

Probably either some Peterson Early Morning Pipe, Peter Stokkebye PS-303 Peaches & Creme, or one of the four Sutliff blends remaining in production by STG that I have samples of coming in the mail this evening. We'll see how appealing they smell when they arrive!

I'm just a simple caveman, I'm smoking captain black out of a $10 bin pipe paired with black coffee.

Though the pipe is fairly attractive, and a great smoker, and the coffee is single origin, Yirgacheffe.

Already I can see a load of blends I haven't tried! Some aren't easily obtainable in the UK, though I've ordered SPC blends from Smokingpipes before so no excuses. Others like Nightcap are favourites of mine... but all Latakia blends have started to taste the same to me lately. Tastebud fatigue maybe.

I used to keep track of blends and how much I liked them in a little book, but that'll be about 2 years out of date now (though it'd probably read something like Nightcap, Squadron Leader, Nightcap, the odd bit of Condor... you get the idea)

I should post this in the other thread I can see about dead blends, but god what I'd give to try a tin of Frog Morton! Unfortunately McClelland were a recent casualty by the time I got into pipes...
