I was actually called in by my principal one day for lighting a cigar as I was exiting the parking lot in my car at the end of the day.
I could see that happening. I try to keep it very low key when I light my pipe in my car. I also try to be very careful about keeping my pipe paraphernalia and tobacco closed up and out of sight in my car.

I have no problem whatsoever telling folks who decide to comment angrily or disrespectfully on my pipe smoking (outdoors in an open area that is not a non smoking area) to FUCK RIGHT OFF and mind their own business. I am not some angry douche by any means, and even go out of my way to ask people if my smoking bothers them when i take my dogs to the park, if the person/people are right near me. 90-some percent of the time they say they don't mind, and on the contrary, love the smell and that it reminds them of some relative of theirs, usually a grandfather. I also make sure to try and puff a little less frequently and take longer breaks between puffs, so the smoke is as minimal as possible, when in a public area. I respect other people and their rights and will go out of my way to make sure i am not infringing upon anyone else in public, but if you approach me angrily, showing hostility and without respect...expect the same in return and a gigantic GO FUCK YOURSELF.

I completely agree, sir.

I never quite undeerstood why it mattered where you smoked outside. The PPM in the air from every smoker in the country lighting up at the same time undoubtedly have less carcinogens or carbon monoxide than probably one major city during rush hour.

I go back to when, if you took a three day bus trip, it meant you did nothing but breathe other peoples'

cigarette smoke for three days, unendingly. Now, my daily bowl of pipe has to be done on a fugitive

basis, with people prone to swoon if this is mentioned to them. The contrast is absurd.

All this bullshit these days about 3rd hand smoke now- where just the odor is deemed dangerous.
I'd pose the question to these idiots: What is more dangerous: to be locked in a room where someone just took a shit, or to sit in my truck after I just smoked a pipe bowl, and which would you choose? I'm guessing the idiot would ask me, "Who is it that took the shit?" Sadly, that would bear upon their answer.
Or, as another member here has posited: If I lock you in one garage with a running car, and lock myself in another with my smoking pipe for a few hours, who's going to come out alive?
The nerve of the anti's....they breathe fumes from cars all day- noxious, disgusting burnt gaseous waste, and see no health issues there. There is no attack on marijuana smoking, which is known to be 20x's more cancerous than tobacco. And attack my pipe? I am not surprised at the lack of logic, but it is still disturbing that there is such an idiotic majority.

My solution was just to get a garage/property where I can smoke (and work) when I want indoors with no naysayers. Its amazing what our culture is heading towards with "PC" and other assorted bulls&@t. Also living in countries with national healthcare helps, but who knows when that will change too!
Moral of the story, build the skills to support yourself and keep a well stocked cellar ;)

We are self insured at the hospital where I work. Smokers are charged $50.00 a a month for the pleasure of doing something I choose to do, not at work, but in the privacy of my own home on my own time.
The cigarette thing was out of control because staff would duck out of the hospital during procedures to grab a quick smoke. It looked pretty bad to see doctors still in scrubs standing outside the hospital smoking. What gets my goat is they don't make any distinction between nicotine addicts and recreational smokers.

Here's the problem: if you tell the anti-smoking nazis to get seduced you may lose your job over it. ,these people really have us over a barrel. I'm so glad I'm retired. So this extremely obese woman is giving me the gears about my Pipe smoking. Do I tell her that her extreme obesity is a greater threat to her health than my occasional pipe?

I've only got a year until retirement. If I had my way I'd be building my cabin in the wilderness of Montana and smoking my pipe while typing my manifesto. This is going to be the longest year of my life!

I just can't stand a person who thinks he has the right to tell someone else what to do. It comes down to that more than health issues as far as I can see. Some people are just busybodies and they need to be shut up once in a while. I was once assaulted from behind, by a woman, after dinner in a restaurant. I was in the smoking section and had lit a cigarette. Entitled sassholes!

A simple solution for the workplace would a smoking room with good ventilation but ....as other said this is all about controlling us..and separating the masses.
For years I ran my own business(a chiropractic office). It was my business and I made the rules. despite the government nazi's, I smoked openly in my business and if my employees or customers didn't like it they were free to go elsewhere.
