Our featured interview on tonight’s Pipes Magazine Radio Show is with Andrew Hopkins. Andrew is the General Manager of Stag Tobacconist in Scottsdale, AZ. He is the third generation in the business. His grandfather started with his store Phoenix Pipe Shop in 1974 in downtown Phoenix. It later changed names to Smoker’s Delight. He also owned Ye Olde Pipe & Tobacco Shoppe starting in 1980. Andrew’s father started in the business as a teenager helping out n the store in 1976. Andrew got into the business in 2007, and he has some great stories to tell as a third generation tobacconist. At the top of the show we will have an Ask the Tobacco Blender segment with Jeremy Reeves. Jeremy is the Head Blender at Cornell & Diehl, which is one of the most popular boutique pipe tobacco companies in the USA.

The show airs every Tuesday at 8:00pm eastern US time, and can be found at PipesMagazine.com and all podcast apps.

I was in Stag earlier this year and didn't get to meet Andrew but did meet his father, Rick.

It's a fantastic shop, they had the best selection of both pipes and tobacco that I've seen in a B&M yet. Rick was an awesome guy, very helpful and a great conversationalist. Too bad Andrew wasn't around at the moment.

This would be my home shop if I lived in the area. Well worth a look if you get the chance!

Will definitely check out this episode!

This was a great interview. So funny... just like with his shop, the local brick and mortar joint in the Upstate of South Carolina - a place called Boda Pipes & Cigars - has a similar story. A long-time employee named Bob made his own blend and people wanted to buy whatever he was smoking, so he divulged his recipe and - just like their Bob's did - it became the best-selling blend at Boda. While Bob has passed away, the jar bearing his name and photo remains, and his blend is still their most popular. "The most aromatic blend you'll ever try," his jar promises, "I guarantee it!"
