I doubt you will be sent away.
I take exception to calling an entire population stupid, rude, repulsive, etc. My experiences are, obviously, different than yours. I've run into many, many people who would not fit your description. I think you are judging based on the lowest common denominator. You should try and develop a wider range of acquaintances and friends. Mine are predominately smart, well behaved, hard working folks, raising children and going into debt to educate them.
Then there are those wearing the uniform of our country (I'm presuming you are indicting the population of the US) and going, as volunteers, into harm's way.
And, if you are calling people stupid because they might view situations differently, vote differently, drive a different brand of vehicle, have a different perspective than you well, that's an opinion you're entitled to. It's all in how you present it.
I have no problem observing that the human race leaves a lot to be desired. But, the vast majority of people I know, are decent, hardworking people, quietly coping with the curve balls life serves up and, where possible, generously assisting those needing help.

I was raised to be my own worst critic, and I suppose that bleeds over into being critical of groups I am part of. Admittedly, I have more than a dash of "if I make fun of my family, it's all in good fun; if you make fun of my family, them's fightin' words!". I think we all do. Do I think any other country is "better" than the U.S.? Hell no, we all have skeletons in our closet. But there's a lot we can improve on. And sadly, I think our "lowest common denominator" is actually growing. Truly decent people, in my opinion, are getting rarer by the day. I may be wrong, and unduly negative, but I'd be a liar if I said I felt differently.

I'm with the Warren Court on this one, though decent folk may be growing smaller as a percentage overall. But I hang out with folks my age mostly, and am able to avoid boors, usually.

'foggy, I think you have it about right. Unfortunately, you have to butter people up before you can prompt them toward change. Hey, I'm not that awful! See the problem? However, on Forums, I think iconoclasts and curmudgeons hold required credentials. (Pot bellied though not overweight here.)
