I had this pipe up for sale but their were no takers so I decided to play with it a little.

37A874D0-9256-4F2D-BD13-797540FCFE8A.jpegAt first, I just stripped it and finished it with Fiebing's Green and it came out dark green. It looked ok but was nothing special. Then I had the idea to make some of the carving look like climbing vines against the tan colored bowl. So I started to strip it down slowly and something wonderful started happening. As I stripped it, spot re-stained it with the green in areas and stripped and rubbed off more, I got this Verdigris Brass Patina look to it, which to my eye is very cool. I haven't seen a finish like this before.

Took it from ho-hum to something unique and interesting, like the others have said corroded copper or aged bronze but at the same time there is something very Sci fi about it, kinda haunting in a way, mystifying in another.


Also the stem looks good too, must be that Obsidian Oil everybody raves about.. Need to get some myself.
