I think Speakeasy has it right. Its end grain so you have limited glue strength. Looks like a good project for your metal work.

Or is that the green stuff that burns your tongue like hydrochloric acid?
Mending cracked porcelain with gold is Kintsuge. Wabi-Sabi is about the perceived beauty of ugliness, as with some of those avant-garde Danish pipes one sees that fetch amazingly silly prices. I think a gold or silver bonding would look really cool, and the bowl temperature wouldn't come near the melting point of either. Or the temperature of Wasabi, the notorious Japanese horseradish.
