I bought this recently on eBay I needed to do a lot of cleaning but it wasn't too bad. I rubbed it with some vodka 40 proof and a rag. I boaght it partially because it is of Algerian briar made in France.
I think it is rather old, but how old I do not know does any of you have an idea? The smoking chamber is so big for the pipe . Is that unusual?
It's a good smoker not as good as a few of my others. It's sort of draws more quickly or directly then the more refined pipes I have, do you know what I mean?. It's more primitive so I have to be careful and gently puff or it gives me a little dizziness. I love the wood, color, and the shape which is very old, I think.
What do you think? Do you have a pipe like this?

Very lovely belge. The thin chamber wall in the back may be an issue so be kind to that fella and don't smoke it very hot and it should serve you well.?

I like the shape a lot. It is pretty similar in shape, if not size, to the Ropp Vintage Zulus. Those are made from old stummels, so maybe that straight Zulu/Dublin style was.popular back in the day?
Thank you . It is also called a cutty shaped pipe . Dublin shape .It's a very early design . Zulus sound African . Some African tribes smoked pipes ,I think I've seen in magazines. I wonder where they got it from, or am I mistaken. They mighty have picked it up from whitey, the colonialist. Who got it from the American Indians. And now I hear , the Rastafarians, Will smoke they're dirty underwear.

There is a certain beauty to a used pipe. It shows that it has had a life outside the pipe rack.

The thin walls would scare me away, but not everyone is like me.
Yes I know what you mean, and it does smoke hot because of the walls. But I'm afraid of thin walls in apartments, more.

I love old pipes that show some history. Doesn't have to be a certain name brand, it just has to speak to me in some way. Here's one of my old ladies, and even though I don't look for bulldog shapes that much, this pipe in one of my favorites.

Dito, to everything you wrote . I would love a pipe like this. How does it smoke compared with the snob set, you probably have, in your collection, like a Dunhill or other ? Nothing against Dunhill would love to have one.

It smokes better than some higher end pipes, but not all of them. I only have one Dunhill at the moment, and it too was an old lady that needed some serious love. I think the no name smokes a little better.
