@MisterBadger I had my clay pipe of 1792 Flake lit with a slow match at this year's Battle of Nantwich; definitely memorable. So you think I'll need plenty of slow match to keep my pipe lit:)
Years ago, when I did Civil War (American) reenacting, I would take my pocket knife and cut a cedar strip that I kept in my pocket at night. When I needed to light my pipe, I would lay the tip in the edge of the campfire coals till it caught fire and voila........... Saved on matches that way.... ;)

So the ancient Romans said
Et sic dico quoque :) Some say tonquin bean is addictive: frankly, I suspect it would cure me of tobacco craving if that was all I could get. if I were running a nanny state (like the government we currently have in UK), I would make the inclusion of tonquin mandatory in all tobacco products and vapes.

A wonderful poem! I've had a bit of back and forth relationship with 1792, initially thinking it smelled and tasted not dissimilar to a Black Cat firecracker before developing a fondness for it. Then I foolishly smoked it on an empty stomach late one night without sipping it slow and respecting it and got (understandably) horrendously ill with nicotine sickness. After that I refused to smoke 1792 for many months, before eventually coming around to it again and sipping it with the measure of respect it not only deserves but demands. Now I like it with my morning coffee.puffy

Thank'ee :) I have one, maybe two pipefuls of the stuff left, and I've paid for it so I'm dam' well going to smoke it, so might well light some up today... you know, having written what I've written, if I end up actually enjoying it I shall be really disappointed in myself.

Having tried some Cob Plug, aka, 1792 Brick Edition, yesterday:
Ain't as good as War Horse, but I think the molasses(?) in it might provide a superior mouthfeel (hate that word) to the smoke. Got some in a jar now with a shotglass of raki, to see if that makes it more equine.

@eljimmy - You say 'dedicate', I say 'sacrifice'. Certainly a victim must be found; otherwise it is necessary to carry out the full 24-hour exorcism ritual with salt, holy water and good Latin imprecations, to banish the ghost.
@MisterBadger I smoked it in a clay so no ghosting:)
I might get some Erinmore Flake for the Sealed Knot Battle of Nantwich next January or save the Salty Dogs.
Hope to meet Andy again; it would be good if we could smoke a clay together.
