To me, my wife and I do celebrate Memorial Day with a cookout and drinking every year (it was Saturday past this year). For one, my birthday is May 28 and it's always around my birthday, but more importantly, how would those that died for our great country want to be remembered for the freedoms we enjoy? I'm not so sure they would want to be remembered with sorrow and sadness to be honest. My oldest brother died in Vietnam, and my uncle died in the Korean War (whom I didn't know but heard stories about growing up); I know for a fact that if we didn't throw a true party where everyone gets together and eats and drinks in their rememberance, they would be very dissappointed. My wife always says a prayer at the beginning of our cookout directed not only toward them and the lives they sacrificed for us, but for the well being of our kids and grandchildren for sure, but afterwards, the party begins! That's just the way we are, but everyone does it differently I'm sure. As for this forum, I don't know.
