Welcome from Norwich, UK. I travelled in Ecuador and Bolivia last year (as well as Peru and Chile).
I remember going to a small pipe shop in a mall in Quito, but it was very expensive! Fortunately I had brought a couple of pipes and tobacco with me, but I mostly bought cigarettes when I was over there. Ecuador is a beautiful country, and I really miss the locro de papa!
Whereabouts in Ecuador are you from? We mostly went to cities and towns: Guayaquil, Mindo, Cuenca, Otavalo and Quito. We went up into the mountains too, near Cotopaxi. We also spent a week in the Galapagos.

Yeah, the pair of pipeshops there are in malls here are expensive, i myself am from the town of bahia, in the province of manabi, i love locro but i preffer encebollado (mostly because its the only soup here that you eat as breakfast)
