I have no idea. Just thought it would be an interesting discussion. I know lots of members collect memorabilia.

It is listed as: " German WWII Wehrmacht Heer Set of 6 Bruyere Smoking Pipes "

This is a salesman demo. Several identical have sold recently. The collection of pipes is consistent and Looks legit. I am not sure the paper is original.

Here's another similar auction.

The problem is that after Ww2 there was so much fake stuff made to try to sell junk that it can be really hard. It could be an original card, or it could be original pipes with a fabricated card. I’ve seen these before and have always been unsure.

the pipes I do believe are from the time period.

They weren’t issued ever. Just a selling point to soldiers if the card is even real. Could have been sold around posts etc.

I thought Hitler had outlawed tobacco use.
That said, I wouldn't ever be able to bring myself to own anything Nazi related, nor would I allow it in my house. It's up there with Satanic knick-knacks and pedo-porn. It always surprises me when I see Nazi memorabilia pop up. Who buys this stuff?

I mean, you see more Nazi stuff on the market than Imperial Japanese stuff or even WW1 Kaiser... or even Soviet stuff.

The Card : " For our soldiers at the front as a greeting from home" " A genuine briar pipe" Guaranteed German work"
WW2 I would say, WW1 helmet were different ( as we lost a war in 1864 to Preussen Austria my grandfather and three of my grandmothers brothers had to go as German soldiers in the first war)
There were pipe factories in Thuringen ( East) before 1914. The last one closed together with East Germany.

they are called war trophies and have been around for centuries.

to the victors go the spoils... why do you think there is so much of it around?

it's history, like it or not. Satanic Knick nacks or pedo porn? not related in the least.

now if it was a new production item with Nazi ties... for sure. I agree. These are used by racist people and other idiots. The only purposeful use is for historic reenactments.

the reason there isn't Soviet stuff is because they kept it and used it for years and years.
WW1 there is quite a bit but less, because there were WAY less people in WW1 and it was even longer ago.

exactly.. a gift or private purchase item. ?

Hitler did not outlaw tobacco use. It may have been restricted in the SS... however I don't believe so.
He didn't like tobacco though, that's for sure. But soldiers received ration stamps for "zigaretten" or "tabak" to buy on post.
