@jay if you didn't like dunhill DNR you most likely won't like escudo as some people claim it to be the same blend in different packaging. Also PS LBF is supposed to be very similar to Davidoff flake medallions.
People who say that Dunhill DNR and Escudo are the same blend don't have working palates. The blends are clearly different. PS LBF and Davidoff Medallions are nothing alike. The Davidoff has an interesting topping that PS LBF does not have. I like PS LBF, but only after it has aged for at least 4-5 years. Delicious after aging, pretty bland, to me, when fresh. None of these are American flakes.

I'll second Jim's suggestion of Watch City Flake and Old Dominion. I'll also add L. J. Peretti's London Flake and No. 8 Slices:

Edit: I also recommend Russ's Hearth & Home Anniversary Kake, and 4noggins Alamosa and Prairie Wind.

Figures, I'm sitting here smoking an American Va/Per/Bur and I don't even realize it: my two favorites of all time: Cornell & Diehl Old Joe Krantz and Three Friars, but these are ribbon, not flake, as you mentioned they may burn fast for you.

I've been aging it for a few years so I don't really know how it is, but I've heard El Nino is good. Not flake.

Sunny Cornwall, UK.
I've just had the last bowl for the day and am in bed so shall be brief.
McClelland's #2015 is what it was and of all the tinned McClelland VaPers I have had the pleasure of smoking (and it is a pleasure to smoke them all), this bulk blend is the best by far!
Certainly on par with Sam Gawith's St. James Flake though with perhaps a little more Perique.
Let's see how the above suggestions compare :puffy:
Regards,
Jay.
