I started on a whim, I had just watched the Hatfield & McCoy miniseries and got inspired by Kevin Costner's pipe.
And yes, the ink is non-toxic, I used Noodler's brand because I know quite a bit about the ink and the gentleman who makes it, (Nathan Tardif). I figured if it could have been whittled deep in the Appalachians around the turn of the century, it very well may have been colored with ink, as any wood stain would have been scarce.
I wonder where I could have a shorter stem made for it to create a true nose warmer?
